1897 Trial Surcharge with large figures, narrow spacing (1-1/2mm.), on Customs Small Dragon, 1 cent on 1 candarin
bright green, unwatermarked, rough perforations 12-1/2, mint original gum with hinge remainder, deep rich colour.
The only known copy of this great rarity; this stamp is illustrated in the Chan catalogue. Chan 34T.

1897 Trial Surcharge with large figures, wide spacing (2-1/2 mm.), on Customs Small Dragon, 2 cents on 3 candarins
mauve, unwatermarked paper similar to the issued stamps (.009 thick), mint large part original gum with hinge
remainder, very fresh and signed by Peter Holcombe (his certificate included). The only known copy of this great
rarity; this stamp is illustrated in the Chan catalogue. Chan 35T.
A single imperforate copy on unwatermarked thick paper (.011 thick) is also recorded.
